Where does your internal audit team need help?

The internal audit process constantly evolves, which means you constantly need to be monitoring your staff's expertise. For the second year, Protiviti has conducted a survey aiming to gauge where internal audit developed competencies. The survey's respondents, mainly chief audit officers, pointed to three technical skill sets that merited the most improvement: ISO 27000 (an international information security standard), enterprise risk management (ERM), and fraud risk management (FRM). Are you covered? The three highest ranked areas of improvement in technology were: Computer-assisted auditing techniques (CAATs), continuous auditing and data analysis tools (data manipulation and statistical analysis). None of this surprising, but it is comforting to know where you stand in terms of other companies.
