What's your ECM strategy?

When people look at the GRC industry, they tend to lump companies into two main groups: The big enterprise resource management companies and the smaller companies that started out with specific solutions, often linked to compliance. But we've noted before that enterprise content management vendors are also worthy of attention.

Managing your content is critical to guard against the legal and compliance risks and to maintain proper archiving and eDiscovery processes. As data is now stored in so many formats, the stakes have risen that much higher.

Judging by the companies that Forrester Research included in its recent record management report, we can lump companies into the same two groups: the likes of IBM, CA, Oracle and Hewlett-Packard and the likes of Interwoven, OpenText and Autonomy. You can imagine that the big players have integrated solutions in mind. So at some point no one would be surprised to see more content management built into their GRC suites.
