Tough times ahead for GRC vendors?

One view out there is that GRC vendors are in for some rough times, as the recession really guts IT budgets and companies get more efficient with their Sarbanes-Oxley processes. On the other hand, people argue that compliance and risk management remain at the top of the corporate agenda; companies would be wise to keep investing.

Vendors themselves suggest that the need to demonstrate clearly, at the corporate, government and non-profit levels, is as acute as ever. Monitoring transactions, monitoring supply chain risk, and managing operational and enterprise risk are all big issues still, notes BNET Technology--especially at financial services firms. The rise of IFRS may also boost the group. Still, the recession will be deep, and no one would be surprised if we saw some consolidation.
