This was bound to happen. RFID is one of those technology buzzwords that gets thrown around a lot. So far, the hype has exceeded the practical benefits, though that is poised to change. Of course, we've been saying that for awhile. Still, at least one company has thought a lot about RFID solutions in the context of compliance. Recall Corporation, a provider of document management services to more than 75,000 customers, has announced an RFID system that can be used to tag cartons of records. It's basically using its own store of records as proof of context. To audit storage facilities and identify cartons, all an employee has to do is walk through the aisles with a handheld reader. No physical handling of the documents is necessary. Sounds interesting, but most likely a future project. Release
