Revisiting your disaster recovery plans

Ultimately, someone is going to be responsible for any loss of data that turns into a compliance issue. So it makes sense to revisit your disaster recovery plan with this in mind. On one hand, this is another example of people who want to sell stuff to you using the Sarbox legislation--which doesn't say anything about disaster recovery--for marketing purposes. But many of these issues are real. Let's face it: A disaster is not likely to be good excuse for loss of data these days. Given the fact that senior executives are really on the hot seat, this may be an opportunity to remind people that disaster recovery is as important as ever. Covering your bosses' butts is not a bad idea in this environment.
