If there was any one man responsible for the movement that led to the passage of Sarbanes-Oxley, it would be Jeff Skilling, the disgraced CEO of Enron. Word is, though, he may go free. Financial Week reports a three-judge panel in New Orleans is expected to rule soon in his appeal. Recall Skilling was sentence to 24 years in prison after his 2006 trial in which he was found guilty of 19 counts of fraud. Financial Week: "Surprisingly, some very prominent minds believe Mr. Skilling has a good shot at winning his appeal, or at least seeing a number of the 19 counts in the conviction overturned." This would be seismic news.
