Conrad Hewitt is set to take over as the SEC's chief accountant. A one-time partner at Ernst & Young, Hewitt's background made him an ideal choice to become a very public figure for the SEC. He will oversee all accounting and practice matters and head up the agency's work on implementing accounting controls required by Sarbanes-Oxley. He starts August 18. The job had been open since last fall when Donald Nicolaisen announced he would return to private business.
