Just when the industry was starting to talk about declining growth and even--gads--layoffs in the audit industry, along comes the credit crunch, which seems to have lifted the demand for accounting pros.

According to Robert Half International, demand for various specialists is rising. The financial bailout may create more work for some audit firms and companies, specifically regarding bailout funds, possible mergers and the need for better valuations of securities, in general. Offshore providers of legal and financial analysis are gearing up for more work from the Big Four and other service providers, possibly law firms. The outsourced service providers have stocked up on lawyers and say the fees they charge are almost irresistible to U.S. firms.
