Be savvy with your spreadsheets

When all is said and done, a lot of companies rely on good 'old Excel for compliance needs. A lot of record keeping is still done with this trusty spreadsheet, with which people tend to have a love-hate sort of relationship. This has not gone unnoticed at Google, which really would like to develop a viable enterprise-appropriate alternative. To that end, we might might see some more spreadsheet add-on development. A U.K. company has just announced a product that will monitor changes to Google spreadsheets. Google would certainly like to see more development in this area. As for Excel, there are a host of products out there. In addition, we would all be wise to take advantage of some built-in features. Here's a neat trick: use checksum as a compliance tool. This is not to say that a spreadsheet ought to be your main compliance application, of course.
